Google Rank Checker is a WordPress plugin that provides the estimated Google position for a list of keywords and corresponding URLs. It also provides the competitive pages for any pre-defined keyword list on a keyword by keyword basis.
Let’s say for instance that you want to provide your clients or management with data showing the competitiveness of keywords they want to rank for. To obtain the data, enter the desired keywords and corresponding URLS; then leave the rest to the plugin. What better way to demonstrate to your prospective clients your SEO success than excellent Google ranking accuracy?
This plugin is an SEO tool using the 2011 Google API integration. A Google AdWords account (MCC Account) is needed in order to properly use this plugin. You will also need to apply to Google for API access.
How does it work?
-
Defining a Google AdWords Account on an administration panel for the plugin.

Settings (Rules to define):
- Maximum CPC: – Maximum cost-per-click (CPC) is the highest amount that you are willing to pay for a click on your ad.
- The top Google page defined as the lowest page you are interested in for ranking results. For example: If any keyword for a specific URL is on page 5 and you define 4 as top Google page, the keyword will not be shown on public pages, however you can still see it on the administration panel.
- Min Cost Per Click: The minimum cost-per-click (CPC) bid that a keyword must have to trigger your ad above Google’s search results; based on the keyword’s Quality Score.
- Calculates Annual Traffic Volume of specified keywords.
Adding new keywords.
There is an option on the administration panel for the plugin, where you can define the keywords, their URLs and the competitive pages of each keyword. This info needs to be added manually, but is very simple to do:

In this way the plugin will search on Google, using the 2011 Google API, for the keyword internet marketing services (see example 1) but just for all those results where the domain is optimum7.com and will display the results on a chart.
-
What you get?
You will get a chart with the following results:
- Keyword
- URL
- Competitive pages
- Position on Google
- AdWords Estimated Position
- AdWords Estimated Results
- Average CPC (cost-per-click)
- Estimated clicks per day
- Estimated clicks per month
- Monthly potential traffic
- Annual traffic value (this value will vary depending on the formula you defined previously )

-
How many keywords can I add?
As many as you want!
But bear in mind that Google charges for API access. We suggest keeping the keyword list less than 200 terms. Remember that the plugin is just a bridge between you and Google AdWords.Google AdWords API developers are charged US$0.25 (or local currency equivalent) per 1000 API units consumed. The rate sheet defines how different API operations consume varying amounts of API units. While some operations consume just one unit, other types consume more. Every keyword is equivalent to 15 Google units.

How to display the results on a WordPress page or Post?
In order to create a WordPress Page or Post to show the results, you simply create a new page/post and paste any of the following codes into brackets:
optimum7_google_ranking_checker_form
In this view you will show to the public viewers the page and Position, the competitive pages, cost per click and the annual traffic value.
optimum7_google_ranking_checker_form_2
In this view you will show to the public the page and position, the competitive pages and the URL for every keyword.

We did a quick update, it should be live and working now.
not working with wp 3.3 – sidebar widget area are blocked after installing this extension
Karl, we are working on an update and should have it within 3 weeks or so.
I’d like to learn more about this. I’m not sure I got it 100% but I think the plugin will tell me how my specific pages rank against the list of competitors I create and the keywords I define. Is that correct? And does it really work page per page?
C
Chris,
The plugin will not compare your rankings to your competitors. It will just check the ranking for any terms you define, for any URL. However, it uses Google API, so you must apply for Google API first.
