HTML5 for Online Business and Web Design

What is HTML5?

HTML5 is a new set of browser technologies that helps you build better sites faster. It introduces various new capabilities to web browsers that were traditionally only available via fully installed applications.

HTML 5 is the latest specification of HTML and most browsers are beginning to support it. Adobe Flash does not run well on mobile browsers. It has been abandoned as a viable mobile technology.  Since mobile web browsing is already surpassing traditional web browsing, HTML5’s importance is growing exponentially.

How to Integrate your Internal Inventory Database with Volusion Using Volusion API in Real Time

Integrating your Internal Inventory Database with Volusion using Volusion API in Real Time

A few days ago, I was asked to develop a solution for one of our Ecommerce clients.. We were discussing how to implement this integration solution and my Project Manager said  “the client’s site is hosted with Volusion”.

The first question that came into my mind was “What is Volusion?” At that moment, I thought that Volusion was one of the thousands of shopping cart software that exist on the web. But I didn’t want to interrupt him, so I let him finish presenting the problem, and then there would be time for my questions.

PHP Objects; PHP Supports Objects but is NOT Object Oriented

There is a big dilemma and misunderstanding between programmers regarding the object orientation of PHP. I have read a lot of forums and books on this subject, and I’d like to clarify it once and for all.

Before actually providing my opinion, let me be really clear in something; I like PHP, I am PHP Certified, and I use it every day for Optimum7, a pretty innovative company that I work for as Senior Programmer, and if this would help… “I always program in php thinking in objects”. I can’t do it differently after programming for more than 9 years in C#.Net, where “everything is an object”. But once again, PHP is not Object Oriented!

How to Resolve Web Design Issues with Clients

Designing and developing a website can be a huge undertaking. There are often hundreds of emails exchanged between web developers and their clients. Despite all the email communications, there comes a time when the project stagnates because the client has not provided crucial information.

Fortunately there is a solution. You have to “box” your client into a corner and force them to communicate effectively! The easiest way of achieving this is by writing the client an email with the following points;

•   Description of the current phase of the project and whether it’s behind schedule

Windows Communication Foundation

I kept asking myself over the past couple of months, how is something as great as the Windows Communication Foundation (WCF) not commonly used? When I went to Google and typed the three letters “WCF”, there was my answer; a ton of results on my screen that are so complicated. It was extremely difficult for the average user to understand this. It seemed like only a handful of programmers would be able to figure out what WCF is and what it does.

Dynamic Google Analytics Event Tracking for WordPress

What Is Analytics Event Tracking?

Event tracking is a method made available by Google Analytics using the ga.js tracking code. It is used to track custom user activity with UI elements, known as “Events”. With Event Tracking, the total number of pageviews is never skewed–as is the case when using urchin.js to track user activity. Event Tracking provides for hierarchical organization of events into Categories, Actions, and Labels.

Though Event Tracking can be used in as many ways as you can imagine, this article focuses on dynamically tracking outbound links on a WordPress site.

Joomla SEO; Is It The Best Choice for Search Engine Optimization?

What is Joomla?
Joomla is one of the most popular CMS (content management systems) on the market today. As we’ve discussed before, the CMS used in a website is important to SEO, insofar as how SEO-friendly it is, and how easily it enables you to include SEO content to your web pages. Some content management systems are designed with SEO as a major consideration, and other systems do nothing at all to help SEO content. This is one of the things to be aware of when selecting any kind of CMS, whether Joomla or any other.

CMS SEO (Content Management System Search Engine Optimization)

When you are building your website, your goal is to make it user and Google friendly. A great way to ensure that you are doing that is with a content management system (CMS). A CMS is used to make putting a website together a more efficient process.  It allows users to create, submit, manage and distribute web content without any extensive knowledge of Web Programming or Markup Languages like HTML. Many web-based content management systems exist in Open Source and commercial domains.  It is recommended that you use a notable CMS, such as WordPress to construct your website. Below you will find information on WordPress that may be helpful for you.

What is Web Hosting?

Web hosting is the first step you must take to get your internet business off the ground. It involves finding a company to “host” your website and provide you with space to run it.

Information found on the internet is stored on various servers around the world. Think of these servers like apartment buildings – some place where your website can live basically. You can’t just toss your site out there and not have someplace for it to land. You need a web host to provide a home for your site, and someplace to store your site’s information and data.

Website Development Services

It all boils down to your website. What does your company represent at first click? What kind of impression is given off? Is your company’s website complimentary to the mission and the reputation that is desired? If you were a potential client for your company, would the website further engage you or completely turn you off? These are all important questions to ask when considering the necessity of website development. You want your website to be an experience. A person should click your site and not only be informed, but be engaged, entertained (if applicable), guided seamlessly, and offered full understanding of your company’s products, services and goals.

What is a 301 Re-Direct?

A 301 Re-direct is a search engine friendly way of moving your website to preserve your SERP rankings. If you have to move your site or change your file names, a 301 redirect tells the search engine that you have permanently moved so that it knows how to route user searches to continue to locate you. You may be asking, why is this important?

Well, if you are an online business, you have spent a lot of time and money investing in your site. You have probably launched a Pay Per Click Campaign with Google and are currently undertaking efforts to drive traffic to your business. This could represent a good chunk of your company’s marketing budget.
