Jaca Sugar is a consumer brand preparing to launch its Shopify site. The brand’s design language was already established. Carrying it into a live store was the open piece, and it had to hold across the homepage, product browsing, and product detail pages so customers could move through the site without a break in the experience.
Bringing that direction into Shopify turned the remaining work into an implementation problem. Page layouts and components had to be rebuilt inside the theme structure, and the responsive behavior had to be worked through for different screen sizes. We were engaged to complete the designs, implement them in Shopify, and prepare the customer-facing store for launch.
Turn Jaca Sugar’s design direction into a working Shopify site that functions consistently on desktop and mobile and is ready for go-live. The visual direction was already settled; the work ahead was making it hold up across every template, screen size, and platform constraint between here and launch day.
None of these challenges stood alone. A decision made for one page type or one screen size carried consequences for every other template in the build.
A recipe page and a product detail page are structurally very different, yet the brand language had to stay recognizable as customers moved between them. If this went wrong, the site would feel like several disconnected experiences stitched together instead of one brand.
The layouts relied on large imagery and wide compositions, so mobile needed a genuine rebuild, not a scaled-down copy. Content order, navigation behavior, and imagery each had to be reconsidered for a smaller screen without losing what made the desktop design work.
Every design layout and interaction had to fit the platform without losing its intended character. That meant translating custom compositions into a structure Shopify could actually support and maintain.
Content, assets, navigation, and core store settings all had to be in place at the same time as the design and development work, so the customer-facing experience would be ready for go-live without needing another round first.
The risk was drift: with four templates, two screen sizes, and a platform boundary all moving at once, small inconsistencies could compound into a site that no longer read as one brand by launch. We resolved this by treating the design system as the single source of truth before development started.
Page hierarchy, component placement, and interaction states were specified in the file first, so mobile adaptation and Shopify implementation both built from one settled reference instead of each making its own judgment calls along the way.
We structured the engagement in three stages: lock the design system, build it into Shopify, and prepare the store for handoff.
We developed Jaca Sugar’s UX/UI direction into complete design mockups covering every template in the build. Page hierarchy, component placement, and interaction states were all specified in the file, not left to interpretation. Development worked from that single source, which held the design language steady from one template to the next.
Design mockups specified every template before development began.
We built the approved designs in Shopify with HTML, CSS, and JavaScript, plus Vue for the interactions that needed it.
Responsive storefront experience. Mobile layouts were reworked for smaller screens. Content order, navigation behavior, and imagery were each adjusted so the reading order a customer follows on desktop still holds on a phone.
Mobile layouts reworked for smaller screens, not scaled down.
Product and content templates. Product detail and collection templates were built alongside the surrounding content pages, so the shopping and informational sides of the site carry the same brand language.

We then prepared the Shopify site itself for go-live, loading page content, uploading visual assets, and configuring the core store settings. Navigation was wired so a customer can move from a product page into the educational content, the comparison pages, or the recipes without returning to the homepage first.
Navigation connects product pages with educational content, comparison pages, and recipes.
Jaca Sugar started this engagement with a design direction and finished it with a storefront ready to open. The customer-facing templates, page content, visual assets, and core store settings were all handed over configured, so the launch timeline now sits with the brand instead of waiting on another build cycle.
Mobile carries real commercial weight for a consumer brand at launch, so the small-screen layouts received their own design pass with hierarchy, imagery, and content order adapted specifically for smaller screens.
The design delivered alongside the build gives Jaca Sugar a defined reference for whatever comes next. Page hierarchy, component placement, and interaction states are documented, giving the team a consistent reference for future storefront additions.
The storefront also gives the brand more than one way to reach a customer: the recipes, educational pages, and comparison pages sit in the same navigation structure as the product pages.
We kept the build inside a single design system, so the site launches reading as one brand instead of a set of pages built at different times. The result is a storefront Jaca Sugar can open, extend, and hand to its own team without waiting on another development pass.
