The Brief

Why Delvie’s Plastics Needed a Miva to Shopify Migration

Migrate all customer data including approximately 18,195 records, transfer loyalty reward points through BON Loyalty app integration, and implement comprehensive 301 redirects for products, categories, blogs, and web pages from the Miva platform to Shopify.

This ensures a smooth customer experience, maintains SEO rankings, and preserves the integrity of the loyalty points system on the new Shopify-based website.

Delvie’s Plastics required migration from the Miva ecommerce platform to Shopify for better scalability and modern ecommerce functionality. A critical aspect was preserving customer loyalty via the BON Loyalty system and maintaining SEO through extensive URL redirect strategies.

Key Achievements

What the Shopify Migration Changed for Delvie’s Plastics

  • Customer data: we migrated approximately 18,195 customer records from the Miva platform to Shopify with high data integrity and accuracy, ensuring no loss or corruption of customer information during the process.
  • Loyalty points: we migrated all customer loyalty points through the BON Loyalty app integration, maintaining customer rewards and enabling continuity of the loyalty program on the new Shopify site.
  • 301 redirects: we developed and executed an extensive URL redirection strategy covering products, categories, blog posts, and web pages from Miva to Shopify. This preserved search engine rankings and minimized SEO impact from the migration.
  • Data mapping and validation: we delivered detailed mapping files for customer data and URL redirects, supporting both migration execution and future maintenance needs. Rigorous testing ensured all redirects functioned correctly and all data was validated.
  • On-time delivery: we completed all migration and redirection tasks within the scheduled timeline from February 7 to May 13, 2025.
Before and After

Before and After: Delvie’s Plastics’ Homepage, Product and Category Pages

Left side: the store as the Wayback Machine captured it in Jul 2021, on Miva. Right side: the live Shopify store, captured Oct 2026.

Homepage Before and After: Loyalty Rewards Move Into the Header

The 2021 Miva homepage used an “All Categories” dropdown bar, a promo banner and a grid of category tiles. On Shopify the full category menu sits in the header next to a Rewards link, the hero reads “Shop hundreds of acrylic colors”, and a message-us chat is pinned to the page.

Why it matters. The loyalty program survived the migration. The Rewards link is where the migrated point balances live.

Product Page Before and After: Variant Chips and Add-On Upsells

The 2021 acrylic sheet page offered one price, a size dropdown and an add-to-cart button. Today the same product type shows colour, size and thickness as selectable chips, a sale price with Shop Pay installments, and a 3M adhesive-backing add-on with its own price.

Why it matters. Cut-to-size acrylic has three dimensions of choice. Chips show all of them at once instead of hiding them in a dropdown.

Category Page Before and After: Inline Filters and 301-Preserved Rankings

The Miva category had a left column of checkbox filters (surface finish, colour, opacity, special effect) and 12 products per page. The Shopify collection lists 117 products with the same filters as inline dropdowns, plus a written description aimed at laser-cutter and CNC users.

Why it matters. The old category URLs 301 to these collections, which is how the rankings carried over.
