PHP Objects; PHP Supports Objects but is NOT Object Oriented

There is a big dilemma and misunderstanding between programmers regarding the object orientation of PHP. I have read a lot of forums and books on this subject, and I’d like to clarify it once and for all.

Before actually providing my opinion, let me be really clear in something; I like PHP, I am PHP Certified, and I use it every day for Optimum7, a pretty innovative company that I work for as Senior Programmer, and if this would help… “I always program in php thinking in objects”. I can’t do it differently after programming for more than 9 years in C#.Net, where “everything is an object”. But once again, PHP is not Object Oriented!

How to Resolve Web Design Issues with Clients

Designing and developing a website can be a huge undertaking. There are often hundreds of emails exchanged between web developers and their clients. Despite all the email communications, there comes a time when the project stagnates because the client has not provided crucial information.

Fortunately there is a solution. You have to “box” your client into a corner and force them to communicate effectively! The easiest way of achieving this is by writing the client an email with the following points;

•   Description of the current phase of the project and whether it’s behind schedule

Custom SEO Web Development

We believe that the phrase “Custom SEO Web Development” is redundant … all SEO Friendly Web Development is Custom.  No two companies, their websites, their industries, their target markets are ever exactly the same.

Ultimately, SEO is about 2 things; (1) Increasing Organic Traffic and (2) Increasing Conversions from the increased traffic.  Clearly, no matter how much you love how your website looks or how much you think it sucks; if you aren’t on the top 3 pages of Google, Bing and Yahoo, you aren’t being found by anyone anyway.

A Better Web Experience is on The Horizon

Recently Apple announced the iPhone 2.0, renamed "OS X iPhone" and an interested new Operating System Upgrade called "Snow Leopard 10.6.” The interesting part about these is how the two releases interact together.

"Snow Leopard" will not be a major upgrade like "Leopard" but a more of a speed and stability upgrade which will allow its devices to operate smoother. They are also going with a full Intel 64 bit processing for speed and more stability thus dropping Power PC support.

Web Development and Search Engines

In the 90’s, when the first websites started to pop up on the web, nobody would have thought that things would get so complicated for the web development industry. Building was pretty easy and self explanatory then. Anybody who knew html and how to use frontpage could build and upload a website. I remember building my first website on geocities and I was so excited when I saw it indexed in Yahoo and Altavista in 1994. We did not have the big Google then.
