How to Best Utilize Your Content

Internet Marketing is meaningless without great content to fuel internet marketing activities and processes. Utilizing content in the most effective ways is dependent on the type of content we are referring to. All content whether textual, audio, and video, multimedia must be implemented correctly on the website.

Text kind of takes care of itself when the content is added to the website and indexed for the search engines. However, non-textual content cannot be read by the search engines without some help. All still photos, graphics, video, audio requires descriptive text generally called “Alt Text” which at least provides a brief description that is understood by the search engines simply because it is text. Main point: Your relevant content, regardless of type, must be properly added to the appropriate web pages for proper indexing on the search engines.

The balance of this writing is devoted to the best ways to utilize your content from outside your website. Why? Because it is the least discussed and most misunderstood aspect of content utilization. It is also the most difficult and many SEO companies just avoid it … also, because highly relevant content, properly utilized, will produce naturally occurring, highly relevant backlinks … and these backlinks, both by quality and quantity, are what makes the difference between those on page 1 and everyone else.

So, let’s consider each type of content and the best ways to deal with them.

Text

Textual Content includes articles, blogposts, microblogging, press releases and more. There are 1,000’s of places, in addition to your website, where your great content can be promoted.

  1. Online Publishers – providing highly rated, active online publishers with great content is a great way of driving backlinks. Just as Google scans your site, they scan the sites of online publishers. A simple example of one of these online publishers is http://ezinearticles.com. If your article is indexed on these sites you can drive backlinks simply through the interaction of the site, its readers and the Google spiders. Of course, there is a technique involved so that the article is optimized properly or targeted for the correct keywords … but that is what Optimum7 is here to do.
  2. Press Release / News Sites – press releases, being newsworthy can be leveraged greatly by getting published on these sites. www.PRweb.com is just one such example.
  3. Social Bookmarking – sites such as Digg and StumbleUpon offer great opportunities for your content to be noted, highlighted and even promoted.
  4. Social Media – let your Twitter followers know of your latest article or blogposts just by telling them about it and linking directly to the content. Do the same thing on Facebook, LinkedIn and dozens of others.

Audio

By recording your content whether an instructional audio, informational or entertainment, you can index this content in:

  • The social media
    • Twitter
    • Facebook, et al
    • MySpace
    • YouTube
    • ITunes
    • Dozens More

All of this is great for backlinks. Remember, that is the point here.

Video

As with audio, video content of all kinds can be indexed and promoted widely throughout the social media.

Reader’s, It’s all about the backlinks!
