Security Implications of Social Media
We usually focus on the positives that social media can bring about, but right now we are going to hop to the other side of the fence for a bit and discuss some of the dangers that can arise via social media. Not too long ago, I was called out at work for something that [...]

Define Social Networking
I am often asked by those not familiar with internet market marketing to explain to them what social networking actually is before even beginning to try to understand what it can do for them online and for their internet marketing objectives.

What is Ambush Marketing?
Ambush Marketing might be the sneakiest, most devious, and controversial forms of marketing. Despite all this, it can be very effective. Recently at the British Open Hugo Boss pulled off a great example of Ambush Marketing. They parked their sail boat off of the waters of Turnberry, Scotland where the tournament was being held. They seemed to be following Tiger Woods, which makes a lot of sense since he would be the one with the most air time. Problem was Hugo Boss wasn’t an official sponsor. Ambush marketing is a form of marketing in which a group takes advantage of an event (that is usually highly publicized, documented, and seen by many) but with no affiliation with the event and no fee is paid.

Podcast Definition
The term podcast is derived originally from the Apple iPod first introduced in 2002. Like the term broadcast or telecast, podcast can refer to the content itself or to the method by which the content is syndicated. Search Engine Marketing and Political Website Design
Regardless of your political leanings, no one can doubt the prowess of Barack Obama's Internet Marketing success. The use of website design, search engine optimization, social media optimization, and political blogging were all used by the Obama campaign to generate unprecedented results in campaign fundraising from the grass roots, build the image of the candidate, publish positions, communicate directly with the electorate, turn out the vote and ultimately become the 44th President.

Why Do We Need Marketing?
For anyone who runs a business of any kind, you'll know that the true question is not whether we need marketing, but how much do we need? A store owner can have the best products available on the market, and a top notch staff, and they will still flounder financially if no one is able to find their product. Even word of mouth is a form of marketing. It's impossible to simply put out a great product and expect to get financial rewards. As with any business, it takes money to make money. An investment in marketing is equally, if not more important than, the investments you make inventory and staff.

What is Black Hat SEO?
Black Hat SEO tactics are practices used by unethical SEO companies, and online marketing sites to trick search engines into giving them a higher ranking than they deserve. Black Hat SEO delivers fast results, but is ultimately very bad news for the users. So why is Black Hat SEO frowned upon, if it works (albeit temporarily)? Black Hat tactics are considered unethical, because they almost always break the rules of search engines. In addition to that, sites that use Black Hat SEO techniques make for a near universally bad user experience. There also some pretty severe repercussions for using Black Hat techniques. When search engines discover that these methods are being used, they will often block those sites from search results, rendering the site essentially useless.

Organic Search Engine Rankings
Wikipedia defines Search Engine Optimization (SEO) as the process of improving the volume or quality of traffic to a web site from search engines via "natural" ("organic" or "algorithmic") search results. Typically, the earlier a site appears in the search results list, the more visitors it will receive from the search engine. SEO may target different kinds of search, including image search, local search, and industry-specific vertical search engines.
