Video, when done right, makes a great addition to an online marketing campaign, either as an addition to a website or as a great content source for syndication and quality (not quantity) Backlink generation. Video grabs attention in ways just not possible with textual content or even still images. Website engagement is a key determinant of website success and video is a great tool to foster engagement. You only have to understand your own behavior and those around you to understand this. Anytime we humans meet “pictures flying through the air” we either stop what we are doing to watch or focus even more if our eyes happen to be on the source in the first place. While baby boomers, now in their 60’s, are easily drawn by video, the younger you are the more you “lock-in” when video is present.

Google Social Search
Google Social Search is a new, experimental feature just released on October 27. Theoretically, it’s supposed to add functionality to your search page by highlighting web pages associated with your contacts within your results page. All you have to do is sign up within your Gmail account.
Google’s example in recent social search tutorials was restaurant-hunting. If you’re looking for a good restaurant, the best thing is a personal recommendation, but you may not have one. Search for a restaurant name, and maybe someone in your contact list has reviewed it online, or mentioned it in their blog. In this case it should show up in this special portion of your search results page.

Blogging to Increase Your Search Engine Rankings
Promoting your website increasingly requires innovative and engaging methods. The sheer number of business websites currently available means you have to find a way to make your site stand out and rank higher with all the major search engines. One of the easiest and most effective ways to do this is by blogging.
Blogs are most typically known as a form of personal journal that is available to everyone on the Internet. Originally used as a way to communicate opinions, information and personal stories, blogs have developed into a unique avenue of promotion for Internet marketers. The holy grail of Internet marketing is, of course, Search Engine Optimization. SEO is the key to receiving high search engine rankings and the resulting increases in traffic.

Why Should I be in Social Media?
You hear it all the time: “I’ll Facebook you!” or “Just check out my MySpace,” but what exactly does that mean. For that matter what in the world is a ‘tweet.’ You have just been introduced to the world of social media. Far more than a simple place to exchange notes and pictures with friends and family, social media like Twitter, FaceBook and MySpace are fast becoming must do’s for any internet business owner. The only question is why? The answer, quite simply is exposure.

Define Social Networking
I am often asked by those not familiar with internet market marketing to explain to them what social networking actually is before even beginning to try to understand what it can do for them online and for their internet marketing objectives.
On the internet, social networking is the process and practice of individuals, businesses and other types of organizations to interact with each other through common web sites and specialized areas within those websites for the purpose of sharing, gaining, propagating and discussing all manner of information.

Customized Marketing Solutions

In Marketing, “one size fits all” does not apply. Methods change based on products and services offered, demography of prospects, geographical area and even culture. Limited budgets complicate and even disqualify some particularly for expensive advertising mediums such as TV and Print.
So what is a business owner to do in this kind of a competitive environment where giants spend millions of dollars on marketing? “If you’re attacking your market from multiple positions and your competition isn’t, you have all the advantage and it will show up in your increased success and income,” says Jay Abraham, a marketing expert. These multiple positions need to be both cost effective and bring you high conversions and leads; ultimately ROI. In today’s marketplace, those of us “non-giants” can achieve Jay Abraham’s “multiple positions” by leveraging all of the elements of Online Marketing.

A Preview of Google Wave, Gmail of the Future
The Gmail (Google) vs. Hotmail (Microsoft) war continues; and this time Google has really stretched far into the lead. Google looked to the development team of the Rasmusen brothers, the creators of Google Maps to help them build Google Wave. At the Google IO Convention, Lars Rasmusen gave a sneak peak to the new open sourced, personal online communication and collaboration tool. It is a web hosted email system like Gmail or Hotmail that promises to extend beyond the current limitations of traditional emailing. Google Wave was introduced first to developers to aggregate assistance in discovering bugs and developing new extensions to enhance its functionalities.

The Chinese Firewall, Twitpocalypse, and Marketing to Children

Twitpocalypse and Internet Marketing
Twipocalypse was the term used for the feared downfall of Twitter. Supposedly on June 13th at 5:05AM all third party Twitter apps i.e. TweetDeck, TwitPic, TwitterFeed, and TwitterHolic were supposed to crash. The Twipocalypse website explains the reason below:
“The Twitpocalypse is similar to the Y2K bug. Very soon the unique identifier associated to each tweet will exceed 2,147,483,647. For some of your favorite third-party Twitter services not designed to handle such a case, the sequence will suddenly turn into negative numbers. At this point, they are very likely to malfunction or crash.”
