Hi wpexplorer,

Thank you for taking the time to comment on our article. As you read in the article, On-Site means all optimization that takes place on your website and/or blog, editing elements to make your site SEO friendly, etc. The article pretty much gave all examples of that. Off-site is mostly link building. We have a ton of articles on creative ways to build links. I read your other comment and I feel that this might be one of the reasons that your presence might seem lower even though your page rank increased. Page ranks increase for a variety of collective reasons, including a steady stream of growing quality traffic and in-links (backlinks) to your site. You might have had an influx of these at one point but to ensure your presence, you must continue your QUALITY link building. We do this on a daily basis for ourselves and our clients. You might know a couple ways to build links already but they include writing good content that people want to share and link to (add share buttons to your content pages), get listed on directories, content syndication, joining relevant forums and participating, post comments on related blogs, I would discourage you from link exchanges and buying links.

I have actually seeing a decrease in my presence on the first page of Google since my page rank increased from a 0 to a 3. Clearly, Page Rank is not playing a major role in my actual search results “ranking”…not sure why yet. I think I just need to give it some time.

Another thing worthy of mention on this post is the fact that if you write Quality content, quality readers will link back to your site and these are the best “traffic” generating back-links which are almost as important as the “page-rank” building links.

I am not sure how I got signed up for your newsletter, but I am sure glad I did. This is a really great article for those starting out with SEO. However, you mention mostly “on site seo”, do you have a specific page for “off site seo” that we could take a look at?

When most people get their search results, do more people hit the paid result first or the organic. I was looking for case studies on this or something that showed hot-spots where people clicked after getting to the SERPS.

I agree that as time passes, most if not all people will be using ecommerce to buy their products. Also ecommerce is a secure way of buying and it is only a handfull of people now who do not buy online.
